The Gift Industry
Inarguably, there is no other sector in the market that is as generous and as popular the business of making gift (or the gift industry, if you may call it so). It is one the most consistent and oldest market players worldwide. This is because since time immemorial, it has celebrated Christmas, Diwali and Halloween and other special occasions such as birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day and baptism. The gift industry has been in the business for a long time and is actually getting better at it every year.
There are numerous factors by which we can attribute the growth of the gift industry to, and among them are promotions and advertisement campaigns devoted to promoting certain products to certain occasions. With the gift products being introduced some months or weeks prior to the occasion or event by which they are intended, consumers are given to act or to consider giving gifts. The marketers, by doing so are unconsciously fuelling people's habit of exchanging gift in general.
Another factor that helps the gift industry thrive is the growing importance of gift in business, as well as its role in fostering individual relationship. Many people think of a gift as a personal statement. Without a word, it talks and it says you are special to me. In the business side, on the other hand, the use of gift is seen as tool for marketing products and services. It is a strategy for creating some sort of obligation on the part of consumers without being obvious and without appearing to be commercial or mundane. This way of looking at gifts has made the hunt for the perfect gift important for many people, driving the growth of the gift industry in return.
